Running a Successful MLM or Direct Sales Home Business

A lot of people jump into Multi Level Marketing (MLM) or Direct Sales because it offers them a chance to have their own business at relatively inexpensive startup costs. Most MLM or Direct Sales businesses allow the would-be entrepreneur to come in at anywhere from $100 or less, to a few thousand dollars. Which is a drop in the bucket when compared to trying to start a franchise which can start off on the low end at around $75,000 or more.

In my case I had a burning desire to be my own boss. I literally HATED the thought of working for someone else. I loathed the idea of having to ask someone to take a day off, to live MY life. My problem was I had no product no service and no ideas. I felt trapped. Actually as a Network Engineer I had a service but it was not something that I liked to do, so I knew it would not be a viable business for me to promote. I remember going to the bank to see what type of loan I could get to start up a franchise. The loan officer was actually an acquaintance of mine from college. When I submitted my paperwork he looked at me like I was an alien and said… “Wow! You make good money why do you want to start your own business?” In my mind I’m thinking “Why do you want to have your life controlled by your manager, boss or whomever?”

Before I go too far off on a tangent let me get back to the point of the article…

I have compiled some tips that I have used to run my business successfully. Keep in mind there are many schools of thought on this subject. I have listed below some things that have helped me maintain my focus and operate successfully.

1. Do your Due-Diligence!! If your planning on starting a franchise, or joining an MLM or doing Direct Sales make sure you research the company’s track record. Are they reputable? How long have they been in business? Are there any lawsuits pending on them for false claims or bad business practices? What kind of support will they offer you in running your company or selling their product?

2. Know your product and be proud of whatever product or service you are providing. You have to be willing to stand behind your product. Remember, when your doing your own business you don’t have that huge corporate company to hide behind. If your offering junk people will be linking that junk directly to you personally. It is hard to overcome a bad rep.

3. Run your business like a business! I cannot stress that one enough. Many people doing MLM or Direct sales don’t often achieve success because they do not put enough work into it. Act as if you are an employee of yourself, then think.. Would I pay myself for the work and effort I put in today? If you were working a 9-5 would your boss tolerate the effort or amount of work you did? This is very important in the beginning stages. Once you get your business up and going, you can then put it in to cruise control.

4. Stay Excited! If your not excited about what your doing odds are you will not stick with it long enough to achieve success. When most people don’t see that immediate success they lose the excitement that they had when they first started, with that they lose focus and desire then end up giving up.

5. Know what you want to accomplish every day. Write your goals for the day down if you have to. For example…

a. Ship orders.

b. Place 3 ads today

c. Send follow up emails to leads I spoke with yesterday

d. Call 30 leads

e. Come up with 2 new ways to market my product/service.

6. Look towards the future, vision your success. Some things that may keep you focused are… thinking about what you will do when you achieve mass success. Think about what kind of house you will buy. Will you go for the Ferrari or the Lamborghini, or whatever your dream car is. Also think about the people in your life you will be able to help. Will you pay off your parents home and your kids and school loans?

Use Direct Communication on Your Site

You should also use some kind of direct communication on your site. Because we are all human, you have to use some kind of direct communication that is human orientated besides words in order to get their attention or to keep their attention. We are human, we want to interact. We want to hear somebody’s voice. I suggest that you use audio of some sort, whether you are using an audio player or you record your own audio and put your own button up there or use some third party service, it does not matter. Or you can use video, if you can make a video of yourself and put it up there, great, there are a lot of third party services out there that will let you do video, or you can hire somebody else to do it for you. If not a video of yourself, do a video of somebody else. Anything of the sort like that is direct communication that has a human voice.

I also suggest to put your picture up there. People want to see who they are dealing with. I have seen a lot of landing pages without pictures, I put my picture on there, I always have and I notice different results when I have my picture on there and when I have it off. It is just more friendly. It is more human interaction. And always, the whole purpose of the landing page, do not get caught up in the graphics, do not get caught up in the whole makeover of your landing page. You want to get the headline, maybe a few lines or a paragraph, then make sure you have brighter colors there. And then you want to tell them what you want them to do. You want to tell them I want you to put your name or email address in so that I can give you something else, so that you can give them more information or whatever it is.

Just say, simply fill in your information below, your name and email address and that is it. You have to tell them what you want them to do. And then they are looking for more information still on what you told them from the first tiny little ad that you have them click through, they are looking for more information on your only two level instant pay program and why I should join. So guess what your auto responder series should be talking about, your only two level instant pay program and why you should join. Where can I get the information from, and if you are unable to write this out go to your sales page. If the program has a sales page get the information from the sales page. It literally, and this is a little trick from affiliate marketing that we have been using for a few years now, if you have a good sales page, each sub headline down the sales page is a title of an email, you can edit it a little bit.

But, you can use that as the title of an email. Then the body part of that under the headline until the next sub headline is their email. We have literally, with the affiliate programs while selling different things, we have literally gone down the page and got six or seven or ten emails out of a sales page, literally taking that sub headline and making it a subject line. And literally taking the body under that and making it an email and then signed off by see you on the next email in a couple of days and then sign your name with a link to you site. It is that easy. Can you write your own email, yes, if you want to, great. But some of us that cannot write emails can certainly get the information off of the sales page.

One thing is that you should write the way you talk, there is no magical thing like this is the magical word that will get you ten thousand sales, that is not the key, just write how you talk. And not full of a bunch of hype that people have heard for the past few years. People get immune to that stuff and it just does not work anymore. In this day and age it is kind of easier with all the scammers and everything online to generate sales if you lie and people believe you and they buy from you. That is why it is so important to have some voice on the site, some kind of video, some kind of human interaction on the site. And that is about it for pay per click initially.

Now you are probably wondering, and all of this is covered in the videos in our back office, we tell you how to get conversion rates and how to get your quality score up and different things of that sort, I am not going to go over it now because it is better taught in the videos. Now, I am going to give you some results that you can get from pay per click and like a plan of action that you can use in pay per click campaigns from whether you join a program today, anytime in the future, no matter where you are at now, you can always count on this type of plan, no matter what you are doing. If you choose to master pay per click, you can apply it in any future programs, products or anything you want to sell on the internet. You do not have to just stick with mlm companies or their products, you can find any products that you want on the internet or make up your own to sell and you can use the same strategy.

Newbie Real Estate Investor Strategy – Marketing to Find Motivated Sellers

As previously discussed, the best way to find leads and motivated sellers is to market. This as a real estate investment strategy, this method by far outperforms searching the Sunday paper, calling FSBO’s, Driving and looking for houses.

The reason for this is Marketing is working for you whether you are working or not. Think about this, when you are looking in the paper on Sunday, and you stop, is anyone else working for you? NO. But if you have an ad in the paper, and a few signs up, and a website on the internet, you have something working for you when you are sleeping, eating, at the movies, what ever.

The other reason we feel that marketing is so effective as a part of your real estate investor strategy, is you are getting people to call you! That means part of the work is already done. If they are calling you, then you already know that they are in need of your service. And you don’t have to work as hard trying to convince them of anything.

Now, there are two kinds of marketing out there. Direct response and indirect or brand advertising. Direct response advertising is designed to motivate a prospect to call you right away. Brand advertising is just like it sounds. It is marketing that is out there to build your brand.

As a new real estate investor, your goal is to focus on direct response advertising. Your real estate investor strategy is to market to get leads so you can do deals. When you have extra money, and you want to build your brand so you are the first person people think of when they need help, then it can be a great tool to use.

On average it takes 5-7 impressions before any connection is made to a prospect, so the key to successful marketing is consistency. Keep your message out there, everyday all the time, and the phone will ring!
